JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – CENTRE for African Journalists (CAJ), the pan-African news services provider, has won the inaugural Standard Bank Mini Media Triathlon.
The team beat stiff competition from various media houses that took part in the competition held at the Hero Adventure at Heia Safari Ranch in Muldresdrift outside Johannesburg.
After three grueling laps of swimming, a four kilometer cycle and ten minute run on the rugged terrain, CAJ News Africa, emerged the biggest winner.
Winning team leader, Mthulisi Sibanda, was ecstatic amid exhaustion.
“The team showed great determination and character to recover after a slow start. As the adage goes, ‘it is not how you start that counts but how you finish.
“I’m proud we made it, proud of my team and commend all the teams that took part in this event for the courage and competitiveness displayed during the grueling event,” he added.
CAJ News Africa Chief Executive Officer, Savious-Parker Kwinika, praised his charges.
“From humble beginnings at our formation, the organization has withstood numerous trials in tribulations to be an internationally-recognized institution.
“The team’s ability to win the event amid challenging conditions epitomizes our history and the journey we are continuing. We aim to be the best in the newsroom and all spheres of life. I congratulate the team on the historic win,” Kwinika said.
