Nigeria, SA biggest winners at youth athletics tourney

NAIROBI, (CAJ News) – SOUTH Africa and Nigeria have dominated the just-ended Africa Junior Athletics Championships in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The two economic giants recorded overwhelming victories with Nigeria occupying the top spot while South Africa settled for the second position. The host nation finished third.

Nigeria managed a total of 12 gold medals, eight silver and seven bronze medals while South Africa scooped nine gold, seven silver and seven bronze medals.

Third-placed Ethiopia was equally impressive with seven gold, 12 silver and 10 bronze medals while the North African giants, Egypt, finished fourth with five gold, five silver and three medals ahead of fifth placed Kenya who managed four gold, five silver and two bronze medals.
