Lagos police prepare for incident-free pollsfrom AUGUSTINE OSAYANDE in Abuja, Nigeria
ABUJA, (CAJ News) – NIGERIA police have assured residents of Lagos State of their readiness to collaborate with other security agencies to ensure hitch-free elections as well as peaceful pre and post election periods in the state.
The State Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of operation, Johnson Kokumo, gave the assurance after the State Security Council meeting.
He said the police and other security agencies were ready to ensure the security of the state during the period.
Kokumo said the matter was discussed extensively at the Security Council meeting, adding that State Police Command and other security agencies had put in place adequate strategies to ensure hitch free elections.
“Already security has been beefed up all over the place. If you go there now you will see things for yourself,” he said.
He added police had put in place armored personnel carriers while they have adequate number of Police Mobile Force units deployed along with intelligence officers who are collecting information to ensure that readiness.
Polls are scheduled for the end of this month and mid-April.
