Dibaba, Mutai shine at IAAF indoor marathon

NAIROBI, (CAJ News) – VETERAN Ethiopian female long distance runner, Genzebe Dibaba, has broken the world record when she won the women’s 5 000m in 14:18.86 at the XL- Galan show International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) indoor over the weekend.

Dibaba did not only break the records for her speed, but also participated for the record third world indoor, making her one of the greatest female long distance athletes of all-time.

Dibaba now boasts smashing women’s 1000m, 2000m, 4000m, among others.

While Dibaba was breaking records, rival Kenyans experienced mixed results at the world’s indoors competition.

However, Kenya, which is the traditional long distance marathon nation clinched their title through Jeremiah Kipkorir Mutai, who won the men’s 800m race in 1:47.40 with Paul Renaudie of France coming second in 1:47.96 while Qatar’s Mohamed Nasir Abbas came third in 1:48.07.
