Mauritius airports receive global recognition

NAIROBI, (CAJ News) – MAURITIUS boasts the most improved airports in the world.

This is according to Airports Council International (ACI).

ACI said Mauritius beat top African economies such as Nigeria, South Africa, Egypt and Kenya in terms of maintaining and improving of its airports.

Mauritius, boasting of its booming tourism industry remained one of the world’s most preferred tourism destinations with South Africa coming second while Kenya comes fifth in Africa.

However, South Africa, despite coming second boasts high class domestic airports such as Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg, which came second, third and fourth in Africa.

Kenya’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport came a distant fifth while Nigeria, Africa’s top economy did not even have one airport to be rated.

Nonetheless, Mauritius that made history for Africa as it keeps its tourism industry raking in billions of dollars from international visitors.

Globally, Mauritius (Africa) was voted the Best Improvement by Region followed by Kolkata (Asia-Pacific), St. Petersburg (Europe), Santo Domingo (Latin America-Caribbean) and San Antonio (North America).
