Airports authority appeals for support to secure facilities

ABUJA, (CAJ News) – THE Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has called for support from the Airforce to enhance security at local airports.

According to FAAN Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Eng Saleh Dunoma, made the appeal during a courtesy call by officials from the Airforce.

Nigeria boasts 26 airports operated by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, five of which are functional international airports while only two military airbase were key national points secured at Makurdi Air Force Base and Port Harcourt NAF Base.

Dunoma appealed for closer collaboration between the Airforce Airport Command and the Aviation Security (AVSEC) especially at this period of electioneering campaigns and the general elections.

He assured the team of the authority’s support and assistance as both institutions were pursuing a common goal.

Airforce officials pledged the support in the area of security and other sundry issues.

They requested for collaboration in other areas to enable the command serve the airports effectively.

They restated the Airforce’s readiness to play its Constitutional role.

While there have not been under attack from the ongoing terror, it has become imperative to boost security at the airports as the attacks escalate.
