Miss SA aims for global beauty crownby TINTSWALO BALOYI
JOHANNESBURG – MISS South Africa, Ziphozakhe Zokufa, will be aiming to be the second beauty queen from the country to win an international pageant in as many months when she competes in the 63rd annual Miss Universe Pageant on Sunday.
The event will be held at the FIU Arena at Florida International University in Doral, Miami in the United States just over a month after compatriot Rolene Strauss – was crowned Miss World 2014.
Zokufa was confident ahead of the weekend’s pageant.
The Eastern Cape-born beauty, who is in the Top 10 of many pundits’ favourites, said she had been overwhelmed with the support she had received from around South Africa.
“I am truly blessed to be representing my beautiful nation. Thank you for your encouragement, I will be giving it my all on Sunday and hope to do our country proud,” she said.
Zokufa, a 23-year-old model and television production student from Port Elizabeth, was crowned the new Miss South Africa 2014 in December after Strauss won the Miss World title in London.
Zokufa was her first princess.
The Miss South Africa licence holders, Sun International, and sponsor, Cell C, wished her well ahead of the event.
