Kenyan, Ethiopia rivalry goes to Francefrom MARIA MACHARIA in Nairobi, Kenya
NAIROBI – THE long outstanding rivalry between Africa’s two tradition long distance running nations, Kenya and Ethiopia, will play itself out at the Paris Marathon.
The contest is set for the French city on April 12.
Ahead of the event, Kenya has lined up a number of award winning long distance runners to counter their traditional rivals.
Kenya’s line-up for the Paris Marathon comprise veteran and multiple long distance award winning athlete Moses Mosop, Vincent Kipruto, Laban Korir, Gilbert Kirwa, Mike Kigen, Philes Ongori and Olena Shurhno
On the other hand, Ethiopia have lined up a strong team led by veteran and international marathon award winning ace, Kenenisa Bekele, Bazu Worku, Deressa Chimsa, Seboka Tola, Raji Assefa, Abdellatif Meftah, Jean Damascene Habarurema, Yassine Mandour and Amane Gobena.
The two nations always dominate Africa’s male and female long distance running for over 20 years.
