JOHANNESBURG – SOUTH Africa’s ruling African National Congress (ANC) has held a successful 103rd anniversary celebration.

The party hosted the event at the Cape Town Stadium in Cape Town this past weekend.

Religious groups, traditional leaders, Cape Minstrels, civil society organisations, diplomatic corp and business fraternity attended.

ANC spokesman, Zizi Kodwa, said the anniversary went on smoothly.

“There was no record of ill-discipline and/or undermining of any laws of our country and this has justified our presented plan which indicated that the event would be peaceful and well run,” Kodwa said.

He said members of the alliance partners, leagues and women successfully mobilised the support for the party ahead of the anniversary.

“Our people vindicated themselves as disciplined and well behaved members of the organisation,” Kodwa said.

He said the ANC would continue celebrating its anniversary in various provinces.

ANC is said to be the oldest liberation movement in the continent.
