Kenya athletes aim for title in Chinafrom MARIA MACHARIA in Nairobi, Kenya
NAIROBI – KENYAN athletes have set their eyes on the forthcoming International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Cross Country championships set for March in Guiyang, China.
Long distance runner, Conseslus Kipruto, said he was leaving no stone unturned in his quest to win the event.
He admitted nonetheless the Guiyang World Cross Country would not be easy judging by the number of entries from fellow Kenyans registering to contest the race.
“I don’t expect an easy competition as I will be racing against my senior counterparts,” Kipruto said.
To test the waters, Kipruto is set to compete in the 24th edition of the Discovery Kenya Cross Country set for Eldoret on January 25.
He said this would give pointers on what to expect ahead of the Guiyang World Cross Country in China.
Kipruto is former world 3 000m steeplechase silver medallist.
