LIBREVILLE, (CAJ News) – SOUTH Africa continued to impress at international football scenes following a 1-1 draw against former African champions Cameroon in a 1-1 draw in an international friendly played at Stade de L’amitie in Libreville, Gabon on Saturday night.

The 1-1 draw followed another exciting outcome when Bafana beat Zambia 1-0 in a thrilling international encounter strongly contested at Orlando Stadium in Soweto, Johannesburg last weekend.

Cameroon scored first through Vincent Aboubakar in the 8th minute before Bafana Bafana forced an equaliser through substitute Sibusiso Vilakazi in the 78th minute.

Aboubakar scored from a free kick after he was recklessly fauled outside the penalty box by Bafana defender Thulani Hlatshwayo.

The draw saw the Shakes Mashaba enter the African Cup of Nations )Afcon) next week without conceding defeat since the coach’s assumes duty as mentor for the senior soccer squad.

Bafana new captain Dean Furman was influential in midfield while goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo impressed.

Other Bafana players who impressed comprised Anele Ngcongca, Thabo Matlaba, Rivaldo Coetzee, Hlatshwayo, Tokelo Rantie and Bernard Parker.

Cameroon had Abubakar causing all sorts of anxious moments whenever their fierce striker was in possession.
