Palestine liberation hero in SA fundraising

JOHANNESBURG – FIERCE Palestine liberation fighter, Leila Khaled, will be in South Africa next month to raise funds to campaign for the boycott of Israel products and service in the country.

Other funds donation would be channelled towards the upkeep of BDS South Africa office which shelters Palestinians supporting the Middle East’s worthy-cause.

She is expected on the 5th as part of her Speaking Tour. The tour ends on the 15th of February.

Khaled is expected to speak in Johannesburg and Pretoria (Gauteng), Rusternburg (North West), Port Elizabeth (Eastern Cape), Durban and Newcastle (KwaZulu Natal), Cape Town (Western Cape), Polokwane (Limpopo) and Nelspruit in Mpumalanga provinces.

Khaled, who is a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine made history in 1969 when she became the first woman to hijack an airplane while demanding freedom for her country.

    The way the article is written, it seems a fait accompli that her visa is in order. How can our government allow a “liberation fighter” to enter South Africa, but not a peaceful person such as the Dalai Lama who is also fighting oppression? I for one certainly hope Leila Khaled is not granted a visa.
