JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – SOUTH Africa’s Bafana Bafana continued with their unbeaten run ahead of the African Cup of Nations when they beat Zambia 1-0 in a thrilling international friendly played at Orlando Stadium on Sunday.

A solitary strike by hard running forward Thuso Phala in the 81st minute was all the Shakes Mashaba coached boys needed to keep Bafana on their winning ways.

Phala came in as substitute replacing less effective Mandla Masango in the 79th minute.

It took the SusperSport forward only two minutes to make the impact, giving the hosts the winning goal.

Following Phala’s goal, Bafana Bafana appeared unstoppable with Themba Zwane’s goal being disallowed for offside in the 90th minute following some fanciful works on the right by Bernard Parker.

However, Zambia created their own scoring opportunities through Jackson Mwanza, who was hacked down in the 12 yard box by Rivaldo Coetzee, but the referee from Swaziland, Mbongiseni Fakudze waived play on.

Earlier on Zambia captain Kennedy Mweene was substituted following an injury in the 45th minute.

Danny Munyao replaced him.
