ACCRA – GHANA’S mobile voice subscription base has exceeded 30 million after it grew by 6,81 percent in the first ten months of the year.

The National Communication Authority (NCA) said a total of 1,57 million new subscribers on voice lines were recorded between January and October.

NCA indicated that the total mobile voice subscription at October was exceeding 29, 99 million insisting the latest new figure at end of the year would have exceeded 30 million.

The October figure puts mobile voice penetration rate at 114 percent, making Ghana, with a total of 25,9 million, one of the few countries in Africa with mobile voice adoption rate surpassing the 100 percent mark.

MTN continues to lead the market with 44, 94 percent (about 13546678), followed by Vodafone with23, 04 percent (about7 128 764) while third placed tiGO boasts a 13,53 percent market share, which is translated into 4 056 322.

Airtel has Airtel recorded 3 142 910 in the period under review, fifth placed Glo recording 1 465 829 (about 4,89 percent market share) while Expresso has 118 171 (about0,54 percent).
