Bafana qualifies for 2015 Afcon final

DURBAN – SOUTH Africa’s Bafana Bafana beat visiting Sudan 2-1 to qualify for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) in a Group A encounter strongly contested at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday.
The 2015 Afcon will be held in Equatorial Guinea.
Two goals in each half from Thulani Serero and Tokelo Rantie were enough to secure Bafana the qualifying ticket, this time not through backdoors, but fairly and properly as the Ephraim “Shakes” Mashaba boys scored two vital goals that helped decide their destiny.
Sudan pulled one back courtesy the boot of Mahmoud Ibrahim. The goal scared the Bafana defence, but South Africa held on to their slender victory to qualify with a match to spare.
The victory, which led to Bafana Bafana qualification was a befitting send off for the slain captain Senzo Meyiwa, who was shot dead in Johannesburg recently.
