Outstanding Africa ICT leaders honoured in SA

CAPE TOWN – LEADERS in the continent’s information and communications technology industry will this evening be acknowledged at the eagerly-anticipted Africa Com Awards.
With a record number of entries, the accolades ceremony is scheduled for Cape Town, South Africa where AfricaCom, the continent’s prime ICT summit will be held until Thursday under theme, “Transforming Africa’s Digital Economy.”
Orange is a favourite for an awards haul following 12 nominations in the 13 awards on offer.
Among other top contenders are Airtel, another mobile network operator, which follows with eight nominations while Liquid Telecom and Huawei have four each.
The firms will vie for accolades in the Best App, Best Connectivity Solutions, Best Cost Efficiency Solutions and Best Device for Africa.
Others are Best Marketing Campaign, Best Mobile Money Solution, Best Network Improvement, Best Pan African Initiative, Breakthrough LTE Development, Changing Lives Award, Excellence in Customer Experience Management, Most Innovative Season and VSAT Innovation for Africa.
In 2014, 161 entries were received.
The overall quality of the entries this year surpassed expectation, said Adam Thompson, Research Manager, Informa Telecoms & Media, the organisers.

“Many are leaders in their fields and pioneers of new technology and services answering the needs of emerging markets that more traditional markets can and should take note of.”
