NAIROBI – UNITED Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, will be in Kenya to launch some major events in the East African country, his office disclosed.

On Thursday, alongside President Uhuru Kenyatta, he will inaugurate the
first Ministerial Forum on Sustainable Transport in Africa as well as the
pioneering global media campaign to end female genital mutilation.

It will be held at the United Nations Complex in Nairobi.

The UN Environment Programme, in corporation with UN-Habitat and the World Bank, is organising the event the Government will host.

Following the event, Ki-moon will launch a pioneering global media
campaign entitled End Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), accompanied by
Cabinet Secretary for Devolution and Planning, Anne Waiguru.

The campaign recognizes the crucial role of the media in raising awareness
about this issue.
