JOHANNESBURG – AIRPORTS Company South Africa has appointed Sello Mmakau as its new Chief Information Officer (CIO).
The CIO position is a newly created role for Airports Company South Africa following the company’s leadership realignment earlier this year.
Airports Company South Africa’s Chief Executive Officer, Bongani Maseko, confirmed the appointment.
“Mmakau’s new role is an important one, which will ensure that the information technology strategy is ideally aligned to sustainably support the growing organisation. His position plugs into Airports Company South Africa’s plans to conclude the filling of positions at executive level during the current financial year.”
Previously CIO at the Department of Home Affairs, Mmakau was instrumental in improving the department’s back-end systems performance, enabling it to better deliver on its mandate to the public and enhance its reputation.
Mmakau has a BA degree, a Master of Business Leadership degree and several IT-related qualifications.
Prior to his position at Home Affairs, he worked at the Department of Health, the State Information Technology Agency and at Sasol Ltd.
Welcoming Mmakau to Airports Company South Africa, Chief Operating Officer, Tebogo Mekgoe, said IT would play a pivotal role in driving the future of the organisation.
