CAPE TOWN – SAMSUNG, the South Korean electronics maker, has announced the availability of the eagerly-anticipated Samsung Galaxy Note 4 in the African markets.

This follows the launch of the large-screen device at an event held in Cape Town, South Africa on Thursday evening.

The fourth-generation Galaxy is among a number of devices the firm, which
is the leader in the mobile devices market, launched during the African leg of the Galax Note 4 World Tour.

“The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will be commercially available on Friday at all
Samsung retailers and operators,” confirmed Sung Yong Hong, Presdient of
Samsung Africa.

“The Note 4 is the latest edition in the ongoing journey of innovation by
Samsung. With this one, we have gone the extra mile,” he added.

Pricing will vary from retailer to retailer.

Coinciding with the launch of the device, Samsung announced a number of
partnerships it had secured with some leading companies in the sector.

Among these are AlwaysOn, which would provide 2GB of free data per twelve
months, double the previous offering with the purchase of the gadget.

Other deals with BoxOffice, OperaMax, Objectiv and Swarovski were confirmed.

The main features of the 176 gramme-weighing Galaxy Note 4 include the 16 megapixel camera boasting a wide selfie mode, Li-Ion 3220 mAh battery, Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 16M colours as well as PhotoNote.

It runs the Android 4.4.4 (KitKat) operating system.

Meanwhile, Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 4 Edge version of the
smartphone, the Gear s smartphone and the Gear VR, a virtual reality device at the event in Cape Town.
