MTN preserves Ghana market leadership

ACCRA – MTN Ghana has maintained its leadership of the country’s mobile network industry, according to statistics released by the National Communications Authority (NCA).

According to the regulator, MTN now has a total of 13 541 961 subscribers as closest rivals, Vodafone, and tiGO, incurred losses.

Vodacom dropped 60721 subscribers to a total of 6 688 783 subscribers.

Third-positioned mobile network tiGo, dropped 21 266 of its subscribers from 4 037 212 subscribers at the close of the month of July.

Sixth-positioned Expresso has also made huge gains, a development that confirms their executive or management is working flat out to ensure a health company turnaround.

According to the NCA, Expresso slightly increased its subscriber base from 122 356 in July to an improved 123 825 by August, a move which shows some positive development in its advertising.

Fourth-placed mobile network, Airtel, also witnessed an increase in its subscriber base by 97,016 to end August 2014 with a total figure of 3 756 547 clients.

Glo anchor the NCA chart with an increase of 35 711 in its subscriber base to end August with 1 404 426.
