The Kenyan steeplechase athlete has been nominated among the world’s top steeplechase competitors, but remains hopeful of being confirmed the overall winner for 2014 having swept top accolades this year.

Birech made history when he won the Samsung Diamond League trophy following successful victories in international races contested in Birmingham (England), Brussels (Belgium), Lausanne (Switzerland), Monaco (Spain), Rome (Italy) and Oslo (Norway) respectively.

Among the top accolades Birech won in Africa and international comprise the Continental Cup gold medal in Morocco, a silver medal in Glasgow, at the just ended Commonwealth Games in Scotland.
