JOHANNESBURG – THE Telkom Knockout will kick off this weekend with Kaizer Chiefs seeking to add another trophy to their cabinet.

The tournament begins on Friday.

All premiership clubs will battle out in this tournament with Kaizer Chiefs and Maritzburg United locking horns again barely a week the two sides clashed in the league at the same venue – FNB Stadium.

Amakhosi, who recently won the MTN 8, narrowly edged Maritzburg 1-0 courtesy of Mandla Masango’s penalty.

To kick start the Telkom-sponsored competition, on Friday, Bidvest Wits will take on Moroka Swallows at Bidvest Wits Stadium in Braamfontein.

The following day, Mamelodi Sundowns will host University of Pretoria at the Loftus Stadium while champions Platinum Stars clash with on form Chippa United at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg.

On Sunday, Orlando Pirates will play Polokwane City at Orlando Stadium in Soweto while Ajax Cape Town and Mpumalanga Black Aces will be in a second battle following last week’s clash at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.

The match is set for Cape Town.
