COWLSO ploughs funds back to communities
LAGOS – THE Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) disclosed it realised more than N100 million from last year’s National Women Conference held in the state.
Chairperson of COWLSO, Abimbola Fashola, disclosed the figures at a news conference to announce the forthcoming National Women Conference.
She said from the proceeds, COWLSO built recreation facilities in Epe at the cost of over N35 million while it commenced the building of six classroom blocks at some schools.
“We realized over N100 million out of it, we have done Epe Recreation Centre. Epe has costs us over N35 million. We are building schools at a cost of over N50 million, ” Fashola said.
She explained that with the generous support of individuals and corporate organisations, the organisation was able to record modest achievement in the implementation of projects.
Fashola said the National Women Conference would hold in Lagos from September 22-24.
The three-day Conference, with the theme: Embracing and Managing Change, will feature such important topics as, Women and Inheritance Law,” “Character: Key to Rebuilding Our Future and Child Abuse,” “Preparing for Succession”, among others.
Fashola disclosed that the Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, would officially open the conference while his Oyo State counterpart, Abiola Ajimobi, would perform the closing ceremony.
