PRETORIA – SOUTH Africa dismissed reports it had again denied the Dalai Lama a visa to visit the country.
Media reported the Tibetan leader had been denied documentation to attend the 14th World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates in Cape Town next month.
“The South African High Commission in New Delhi, Republic of India, has received a visa application from the office of His Holiness The Dalai Lama for a planned visit by His Holiness to South Africa,” Clayson Monyela, the Department of International Relations and Cooperation spokesperson, stated on Thursday.
He said the application would be taken through normal due process.
“The relevant authorities will communicate with the applicant thereafter,” Monyela added.
The Dalai Lama is making another bid to visit South Africa despite two previous attempts being unsuccessful.
