ABUJA – THE Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin El-Kanemi, has asked all Muslims faithful in the troubled state to immediately commence three days of fasting and prayers for the return of peace.

The paramount ruler equally called on Christians in the state not to relent in the prayers so that the present threat of the insurgents who invaded Bama some days ago can be waded.

According to a statement by the secretary of Borno Emirate Council, Alhaji Zanna Laisu Kazalma, the paramount ruler and the Chairman of Borno State Traditional Rulers Association, the Shehu of Borno, called on Muslim Umma in Borno State to commence three days fasting starting from Thursday.

“The Umma is equally urged to offer Special Prayers in all mosques and recitation of Khalimat Shahada ‘La Ilaha Illallah’ continuously during the fasting period.

“It is also urged that each and every Muslim individually and collectively offer Sadaqat (alms) to the needy and less privileged, especially to those internally displaced persons in various camp.s”

The statement further read, “In the same vain, the Royal Father also urged Christian Community in the State not to relent in their continuous prayers for peace and Security to prevail in Borno and the Nigeria as a whole.”
