JOHANNESBURG – ROGER de Sa, who was shown the exit door at Orlando Pirates late last season, has found a new lease of life in Cape Town where his new club has just shot to the top of the Absa Premier Soccer League.

Ajax Cape Town are the early pacesetters after four matches in which they won three consecutive ties after drawing their opener.

The biggest feat has been the 1-0 victory over Premiership defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

On Tuesday night, de Sa’s men massacred Bidvest Wits Football Club 3-1 in an encounter played Athlone Stadium in the Mother City.

For their three vital points, the Urban Warriors grabbed a brace from Nathan Paulse and another gem of a goal from Keagan Dolly while the visiting Wits got their only goal of the night through hard running Sthembiso Ngcobo.

Too little too late.

However, Ajax’s stay at the top will depend on Kaizer Chiefs’ performance tonight against Platinum Stars.

A draw or victory for Amakhosi will see the Soweto giant stroll back to the top of the league log standings again.

Meanwhile, in another exciting match, supercharged Moroka Swallows beat visiting Polokwane City 3-2 at Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto on Tuesday night.

Goals from Vuyisile Wana and a double by Lerato Chabangu were enough to give the Dube Birds the three vital point, while City scored back through Puleng Tlolane and Thapelo Tshilo.

Another Premiership side that is showing progress is Maritzburg United, thrashed newly promoted Chippa United 3-0 in a league match played at Harry Gwala Stadium in Maritzburg on Tuesday night.

Goals from Mohammed Anas, Nhlanhla Vilakazi and Sheldon van Wyk secured the win, a development that showed the KwaZulu Natal side is also enjoying the season under the tutelage of Steve Komphela.
