JOHANNESBURG – THE MTN 8 final looks set to be a Soweto Derby after Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates scored comfortable first-leg victories at the weekend.

The sworn rivals each scored two crucial aways goals to put themselves in good stead for the decider at the expense of Platinum Stars and Bidvest Wits respectively.

On Saturday at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium, a double by George Maluleka secured The Amakhosi a 2-0 victory against Stars ahead of the second leg against defending champions Stars at FNB Stadium.

Pirates were equally dominant against Wits at the Bidvest Stadium on Sunday and, thanks to goals by Siyabonga Sangweni and Thabo Matlaba, appear safe bets to make it to the final, via a second leg meeting at Orlando Stadium.

The final is scheduled for September 20 at a venue the Premier Soccer League will announce after the second legs.
