Lagos seeks religious, traditional leaders support in Ebola fight
from HENRY IFEANYI in Lagos, Nigeria
LAGOS – LAGOS State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, has urged traditional rulers and religious leaders to complement government efforts to contain the spread of Ebola.
In an interactive session with the religious and traditional leaders at the Banquet Hall, Lagos House in Ikeja, Fashola emphasized that contracting the virus did not result in certain death.
“Whether the patient dies or lives will depend on what steps are taken after discovery of the virus in the victim,” he said.
He urged the traditional and religious leaders to help in the ongoing campaign for increased personal hygiene among their subjects and members of their congregations.
Earlier, Fashola met members of the diplomatic community based in Lagos as well as Chairmen of all Local Government Councils and Development Areas and health officers.
He urged them to provide adequate protective kits to all the medical staff at the Primary Health Care Centres and hospitals across the State.
