JOHANNESBURG – THE Absa Premiership resumes on Tuesday with four teams kick-starting what promises to be an array of thrilling midweek matches.
Under-fire SuperSport United coach, Cavin Johnson, takes his charges to in-form returnees Chippa United in Port Elizabeth in a match that might have a bearing on Johnson’s future at the former triple champions.
Chippa are still bubbling in confidence following their convincing 2-0 victory over Platinum Stars at the same venue while Supersport lost to Bidvest Wits.
Wits are in action against University of Pretoria in a “University Derby” scheduled for Bidvest Stadium.
Both matches kick off at 1930.
On Wednesday, on form Moroka Swallows host KwaZulu Natal based AmaZulu Football Club in amatch that can go either way.
Swallows come into this match with confidence after they humiliated wasteful former champions, Orlando Pirates, whom they beat 2-1 at Orlando Stadium last weekend while AmaZulu were held to a goalless draw by Ajax Cape Town.
Ajax will be up against champions Mamelodi Sundowns in Cape Town.
A game into the new campaign that was preceded by a controversial buying spree, the champions are already feeling the pressure after drawing against Maritzburg United in their opening match.
Unruly Sundowns fans hurled missiles onto the Loftus Versfeld pitch.
Elsewhere, cup specialists Platinum Stars entertain Free State Stars in a match involving the two sides that lost their opening premiership encounters.
Another Free State side, Bloemfontein Celtic will be banking on home support looking to pile the pressure on the entertaining but wasteful Pirates.
Another Soweto giant, Kaizer Chiefs, will be travelling to Mpumalanga’s Mbombela Stadium for a crucial tie against Mpumalanga Black Aces.
The last match of the midweek will pit Maritzburg Utd against Polokwane City in Maritzburg.
