NAIROBI – THE Kenya Premier League (KPL) announced all five catch-up fixtures will be played on Wednesday to ensure fair competition in the topflight.

The ten clubs, including second leading outfit, Tusker FC, have each played a game less than the rest of the teams who have played 18.

The match between Tusker and close rivals KCB will be contested at Ruaraka with victory for Tusker will boosting their chances of closing in on log leaders Gor Mahia.

KCB’s defeat would mean that chances of escaping relegation would be minimal as they only managed nine points in 17 matches played to date.

Elsewhere, Sofapaka will be hosting Chemelil Sugar at Machakos in a match widely believed to be the standout fixture.

Sofapaka, on 29 points, are fourth on the league log standing while close rivals Chemelil Sugar. A point separates them. Both teams still have the opportunity to go on top of the log standings and reclaim the league championship from Gor Mahia.

Another potentially explosive encounter pits seventh- placed Ulinzi Stars against Mathare United at Machakos.

Machakos Stadium will host two matches on Wednesday, the first one being the one featuring Ulinzi Stars and Mathare United before Sofapaka playing Chemelil Sugar.

Thika United, who are slowly climbing up the ladder, will host Western Stima at Ruaraka Stadium while former champions AFC Leopards will travel for a date against City Stars at the home of football- Nyayo Stadium.
